Safety - Guidelines for Paddlers

  1. Know your skill levels.
  2. Check website for trip level description and talk to Trip Leader.
  3. Be on time. At least 15 minutes before launch time.
  4. Have a full tank of gas if you are traveling long distance.
  5. Always RSVP the Trip Leader by the required date if you are planning on paddling. Plan ahead.
  6. If you signed up for the trip and you must cancel, CALL the Trip Leader.
  7. Ask the Trip Leader what the plan and duration of the trip is.
  8. PFD ( Personal Floatation devices) are required by Law. Make sure it fits you. Whistle is required too.
  9. Make sure to bring the right equipment for the trip. See Equipment List and talk to Trip Leader for additional equipment, if required.
  10. Stay between the sweep boat and the lead boat.
  11. Be aware of new members and guests and be helpful. Assist in carrying and loading boats.
  12. Don't hesitate to ask for assistance… let others help you.
  13. Follow the instructions of Trip Leader. Final authority on making decisions on the Trip is with Trip Leader.
  14. Paddlers are responsible for themselves and their gear.

  • sponge
  • Pump or bailer
  • PFD ( Personal Flotation Device)
  • Whistle
  • Rain Gear or Puncho
  • Dry bag or Large Ziplock bag with a change of clothes
  • Water Shoes
  • Hat with a wide rim
  • Plenty of water to drink
  • Snack/ lunch ( Talk to Trip Leader )
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Repellant
  • Money ( cash )
  • Flashlight, waterproof ( for Night Paddle)
  • First Aid Kit ( Optional )
  • Extra Paddle ( Optional )
